Multilingualism in the workplace however has attracted interest more recently. Collections and special issues have addressed the role of global\/local languages, the relationship between language and accessing the labour market\/career progression as well as the commodification of language competence. In this talk I draw on recently completed and ongoing work and reflect on current understandings of multilingualism and issues around ideology and hegemony.
