Tim Minshull from G&G has just been awarded a grant to analyse seismic data from the Porcupine Basin west of Ireland, a region where the continental crust has been highly extended but not quite enough to form an ocean basin. \u00a0The project is in collaboration with the Dublin Institute of Advanced Studies (DIAS), the University of Birmingham, University College Dublin and Geomar, Kiel. \u00a0Funding comes from a consortium of oil companies working in Irish waters and will support a postdoctoral fellow in Southampton and one at DIAS. \u00a0These posts will be advertised soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
