The Cooper Basin is a proven petroleum system with numerous plays in terrestrial sedimentary sequences. We focus on the Permian Patchawarra formation with intercalated fluvial sand reservoirs and coals, demonstrating both intraformational and regionally extensive seals.

Our prospect is a combined structural-stratigraphic trap mapped using seismic attributes. We identify a primary gas play in the Patchawarra sands, sourced from the intercalated Permian Coals with an estimated volume of 22.39 Bcf. We also identify a secondary unconventional play of coal seam gas and consider its future potential.

——————————————————

Tuesday February 11th G&G Talks

Location: NOCS conference room (344/32) at 12.00-13.00

Shari Gallop:

“Great Barrier Reef: How reef morphology and sea level affects wave transmission”

Becky Cook:

“Characterisation of along- and across-strike variation of accretionary prism structure offshore north-central Sumatra and relationships to earthquake rupture”

Savas Ceylan:

“How reliable is two-plane-wave tomography?”

——————————————————

Upcoming G&G seminar dates and locations, talk titles TBA

Date

Time

Room

11/02/2014

12:00 –
