{"id":162,"date":"2011-10-25T12:53:22","date_gmt":"2011-10-25T12:53:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/data\/?p=162"},"modified":"2011-10-26T09:59:24","modified_gmt":"2011-10-26T09:59:24","slug":"license-verification-link","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/data\/2011\/10\/25\/license-verification-link\/","title":{"rendered":"License Verification Link"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\" data-count=\"vertical\" data-url=\"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/data\/2011\/10\/25\/license-verification-link\/\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n<p>A helpful chap named Glyn, from <a href=\"http:\/\/data.linkedgov.org\/index.html\">http:\/\/data.linkedgov.org\/<\/a> pointed out that it&#8217;s hard to verify that the council really gave us permission to republish their bus data under the license we claim.<\/p>\n<p>As a really simple and cheap solution to this, all pages on our site using this data, eg. <a href=\"http:\/\/data.southampton.ac.uk\/bus-stop\/HA030013.html\">http:\/\/data.southampton.ac.uk\/bus-stop\/HA030013.html<\/a> now have a link at the bottom with the following text:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Bus stops, routes &amp; live data provided under the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalarchives.gov.uk\/doc\/open%2Dgovernment%2Dlicence\/\">Open Government License<\/a> by the Southampton City Council <a href=\"http:\/\/www.romanse.org.uk\/\">ROMANSE<\/a> office. To verify, see the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.romanse.org.uk\/sotonshared.htm\">Confirmation Page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The important part is the ROMANSE project have provided a nice simple license verification page on their site at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.romanse.org.uk\/sotonshared.htm\">http:\/\/www.romanse.org.uk\/sotonshared.htm<\/a> which allows a 3rd party to verify in seconds that we&#8217;re telling the truth and are in agreement with the data provider.
