{"id":35,"date":"2014-03-09T23:56:38","date_gmt":"2014-03-09T23:56:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/criticalmass\/?p=35"},"modified":"2014-04-14T14:32:29","modified_gmt":"2014-04-14T14:32:29","slug":"business-events-sami","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/criticalmass\/2014\/03\/09\/business-events-sami\/","title":{"rendered":"Business Events &#8211; Sami"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">This post contains information about the type of business events our social network would cater for.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Conferences<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>Definitions<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A conference is a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Meeting\">meeting<\/a>\u00a0of people who &#8220;confer&#8221; about a topic.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Academic_conference\">Academic conference<\/a>, in science and academia, a formal event where researchers present results, workshops, and other activities.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Business_conference\">Business conference<\/a>, organized to discuss business-related matters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Travel<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Probably need multiple types of transport (unlikely that a train or a bus will run directly to the conference location, and you may have to fly there first) &#8211; needs coordination!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Accommodation<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Most conferences aren\u2019t local so chances are people will need accommodation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Venue<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>These come with venues included.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Local Area Info<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Might need entertainment options for guests you\u2019ve brought with you.<\/li>\n<li>Might want suggestions of places to eat in the evenings if the conference doesn\u2019t provide food, or if you are staying on afterwards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Weather Forecast<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Possibly less needed here as most conferences involve staying inside.<\/li>\n<li>However guests might want this information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Training\/Teambuilding Weekends<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Definitions<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Team building refers to a wide range of activities, presented to businesses, schools, sports teams, religious or nonprofit organizations designed for improving team\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Performance\">performance<\/a>.
