We aim to put into practice what we learn from undertaking research. Our focus is on bringing benefits to people living in Wessex\u00a0through better integration of pathways to care for people with long term conditions\u00a0and reducing hospital admissions through more appropriate use of health care.<\/p>\n<p>On 9 August 2013, the Department of Health announced investment of \u00a3120 million in 13 new National Institute for Health Research Collaborations for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (NIHR CLAHRCs) in England including the NIHR CLAHRC Wessex.<\/p>\n<p>On behalf of our host institution &#8211; University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, and the University of Southampton we are pleased to announce that we have been successful in securing\u00a0funding to host the NIHR CLAHRC Wessex.\u00a0 In addition to the \u00a39m available for newly established CLAHRCs, we have matched funding promised across the region by a number of organisations, whose key aim is to accelerate the translation of research evidence into practice.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/91936145\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Chief Executive of University Hospital Southampton NHS FT, Fiona Dalton,\u00a0outlines the partnership between CLAHRC Wessex and UHS.\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We anticipate much of this funding will be used to in kind to release staff time and support the involvement of patients and citizens in\u00a0Wessex.<\/p>\n<p>We would like to thank everyone who contributed to making our bid successful and we look forward to working with you in the next\u00a0five years to improve healthcare in Wessex.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/91936142\" target=\"_blank\">Watch our Research Director, Professor Anne Rogers, outline the position and remit of the CLAHRCs nationally and regionally.<\/a><\/strong> This presentation was filmed at the launch of the CLAHRC Wessex on 12 March 2014.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are a Wessex wide partnership of providers, commissioners, patients and the public, clinicians and researchers.
