ECS graduate Ashley Robinson (above) provides some excellent insights on his graduate role at Cambridge Design Partnership (CDP) as well as some of his future aspirations in a blog published this week on the company’s website: http:\/\/www.cambridge-design.co.uk\/news-and-articles\/blog\/meet-ashley-our-near-field-communications-expert<\/a><\/p>\n Ashley graduated earlier this year from the MEng Electronic Engineering with Artificial Intelligence, and brought great distinction to the School by being named UK Electronic Skills Foundation Scholar of the Year<\/a> in November 2013. It sounds as if his role suits him very well: ‘CDP were recommended to me as a smart career choice.\u00a0 I was very impressed when I arrived, even during the interview CDP appeared to be a really fun place to work and their showcase of projects exhibited a very broad skillset.\u00a0 The thought of working on such diverse projects is what attracted me,’ he writes.<\/span><\/p>\n Ashley also writes about his current projects in Near Field Communications and about some of the hot topics in the area, particularly the Internet of Things. He comments: ‘The Internet of Things (IoT) is currently the big buzz word in electronics but currently lacks the infrastructure to fulfill its potential. This field needs a lot of investment to create a robust platform from which we can create scalable implementations with mainstream appeal.’ <\/span><\/p>\n The interface between electronics and biology is also an area that Ashley mentions as being one of his future goals – hopefully we’ll see him on campus again before long to talk ECS students about some of the work he undertakes at CDP. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n See the CDP LinkedIn group for further information about the company and opportunities:<\/p>\n
