This is an expansion of the successful postdoctoral mentoring scheme. Training is available for both mentors and mentees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #555555\">We currently offer 4 types of mentoring: <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"ms-rteFontSize-1 ms-rteThemeFontFace-1\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;line-height: normal\"><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div class=\"ms-rteFontSize-1 ms-rteThemeFontFace-1\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;line-height: normal\"><b><span style=\"color: #555555\">Long term mentoring <\/span><\/b><span style=\"color: #555555\">&#8211; where you have a number of meetings with the same mentor over a period of time. This gives you both the chance to get to know each other, and therefore the mentor can tailor the advice and encouragement given. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"ms-rteFontSize-1 ms-rteThemeFontFace-1\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;line-height: normal\"><b><span style=\"color: #555555\">One stop mentoring <\/span><\/b><span style=\"color: #555555\">&#8211; if you have a specific need you can select a mentor with experience in that specialist area to meet with once (or more if you wish!) <\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"ms-rteFontSize-1 ms-rteThemeFontFace-1\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;line-height: normal\"><b><span style=\"color: #555555\">Mentoring workshops <\/span><\/b><span style=\"color: #555555\">&#8211; an informal discussion around a particular topic, e.g. life work balance, with a group of research staff and a few members of staff with experience in the topic area. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"ms-rteFontSize-1 ms-rteThemeFontFace-1\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;line-height: normal\"><b><span style=\"color: #555555\">Peer mentoring groups <\/span><\/b><span style=\"color: #555555\">&#8211; a chance to explore a common area of interest with a group of like minded people, for example, giving oral presentations.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #555555\"><span style=\"color: #333333\">More information is available on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/intranet.soton.ac.uk\/sites\/medicine\/mentoring\/Pages\/Publishing-page.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Faculty intranet<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>University of Southampton Mentoring\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This service offers a unique career mentoring programme supported by the EPSRC\u00a0and developed through a collaboration between the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/diversity\/\" target=\"_blank\">Diversity Office <\/a>and the Professional Development Unit at the University of Southampton.
