Key Initiatives<\/strong><\/p>\n

The work to develop the Faculty\u2019s submission for an Athena Swan Silver award progresses apace.\u00a0Cathy Bowen is leading the implementation of our action plan and the key initiatives include:
\n– A major focus on supporting people through the University Promotion process.<\/p>\n

– Workshops to learn about the issues for early career and contract researchers in developing their careers.<\/p>\n

– Asking everyone to undertake on-line Equality and Diversity Training.<\/p>\n

– Supporting women academics to undertake the Springboard women\u2019s leadership programme.<\/p>\n

– Ensuring the new undergraduate curriculum has a strong science base so that the possibility of a science career\u00a0is\u00a0shaped early in our students.<\/p>\n

– Raising consciousness in our culture about the \u2018leaky pipeline\u2019 whereby capable women do not progress
\ntheir careers because of the many hidden and overt barriers that may stand in their way.<\/p>\n
