Spotlight on Turner: Placement opportunity

Opportunity:

  • Hampshire Cultural Trust invites 2 ā€“ 3 students to gain creative and vocational experience at the Willis Museum, Basingstoke between December and February 2018
  • To work alongside professional, contemporary artist, James Aldridge, by sharing an artistā€™s brief and creating your own work in response in the exhibition, ā€˜Turner and the Sunā€™.
  • To curate an exhibition of the collective work created through this project at the Willis Museum which will be displayed in February 2018
  • To plan and manage an event at the Willis Museum that will open the show
  • To mentor and support A-Level art students from Basingstoke College of Technology who will also be sharing the artist brief to create new work and will be exhibited alongside
  • To lead a social media campaign to promote and share the progress of the project and your work, and culminating show
  • This time limited placement will take place each week on Wednesdays, 3pm ā€“ 5pm, at the Willis Museum and Basingstoke College OF Technology (BCoT)
  • The project will start onĀ 6th December and run for 7 weeks (excluding 2 weeks over Christmas)

Who is it for:

  • This opportunity is suitable for anyone interested in developing their artistic practice and portfolio, and gaining hands curatorial and event management experience.
  • You will need to possess the skills and interest to support students from Basingstoke College also involved in the project to develop their own work and to be involved in curating the exhibition and planning the event
  • There is an expectation to complete work in your own time and to use the projects social media platforms to promote your work and the final exhibition
