Last Week Game Results

Wednesday 26th of October:

Home games:

  • Men’s 1st team:

Meeting Swansea, Sharks could have won the game. The start was hard for the men. They were losing 0 – 13 in the very first minutes. The first quarter didn’t end well with 8 – 25 for Swansea.
The second quarter went better and the Men won 13 – 10 but that wasn’t enough, they needed to push harder and fight to win the game. Swansea had a small team and it seemed that the men could have taken back the lead.

Unfortunately, they didn’t give enough energy and lost the second half. The game ended with a score of 52 – 74. We can expect much more from our 1st team.

  • Women’s 1st team:

Southampton met the University South of Wales Women’s 1st. The game was one-sided. Sharks won 63 to 18.

The first half of the game was clear enough to show that the game wouldn’t be too complicated. Indeed, Sharks were controlling the game. In the second half Southampton slowed down and the opposing team was able to score more points.

Everyone scored and had a nice time.
Away games:

  • Men’s 2nd team:

Traveling to the University of South Wales, 2nds were motivated to begin their season. The game was one-sided once again this day.
The first quarter showed how dominant Sharks were, 7 (University of South Wales) – 27 (Sharks).

This continued throughout the game with the exception of the third quarter where their opponents managed to score more points.

2nd Quarter: 4 – 22

3rd Quarter: 14 – 15

4th Quarter: 23 – 10

The game ended with a score of 35 – 87. It’s a great start for the second team and we hope they continue this rhythm for the rest of the season.

  • Men’s 3rd team:

Playing at Exeter against the University of Exeter Men’s 2nd, Sharks lost their first game.

The game was complicated for the 3rds and they made a lot of turn-overs and unfortunately lost, 51 (Exeter) – 38 (Sharks).

This was only their first game, we should continue to have a look at their progression and follow them throughout their next games.
Saturday 29th of October:

  • Men’s 1st Team (National game):

Cardiff City came to play at the Jubilee against our 1st team and to show our spectators a very tense game.

From the start to the end, the score was very close and every shot was important, and every steal was valuable. Sharks won the first quarter 19 – 18. The second quarter was as tight as the first one. The 1st team still managed to win that quarter as well and increased their lead to 2 points (18 – 17).

The third quarter started well and at some point in the quarter, our men managed to grab a 10 point lead which seemed like Southampton was starting to pull it off. Nevertheless, Cardiff City were not finished and came back to the score. The quarter was won 17 – 14 for Sharks. They now had a 5 point lead. The fourth quarter was as tense as the rest of the game. However, Sharks managed to win even though they conceded the quarter 18 – 19.

This game was nothing like the Wednesday one and it showed a different level of basketball from the first team.

Sunday 30th of October:

  • Sharks B were supposed to have a game but it was postponed.
