Hi Alan, thanks for your interest. We have considered active directional antennae on the UAV, and our pursuing this over the next quarter. Not sure how feasible your suggestion of a high powered reflected signal is. Have you any information source for this? Have you tried it successfully?

The article I read mentioned problems in achieving decent signals range. I’d like to contribute a couple a whacky ideas (which you have probably already discounted). First, for flight control, you only need a small bandwidth. So, how about rotating the antenna (or its reflector)on the UAV and repeating each signal so you receive at least one copy per rotation? The antennae on the base unit can be more selective directionally.

Second, for the high bandwidth video signals, could you send a much higher-power directionally focused signal from the base unit and superimpose the video from the UAV on the reflected signal (using the reflected high-power signal as a carrier)?
