A developer can use several ways to connect with the Facebook Platform depending on the goal she/he is trying to achieve.

If the developer only wants to use client side validation, he can easily do it using the following code.

      <div id="fb-root"></div>
      <script>
        window.fbAsyncInit = function() {
          FB.init({
            appId      : 'YOUR_APP_ID',
            status     : true,
            cookie     : true,
            xfbml      : true,
            oauth      : true,
          });
        };
        (function(d){
           var js, id = 'facebook-jssdk'; if (d.getElementById(id)) {return;}
           js = d.createElement('script'); js.id = id; js.async = true;
           js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js";
           d.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(js);
         }(document));
      </script>

The APP_ID is a code given by Facebook to developers to identify each application individually. Each application is bounded to a domain (or set of domains) to avoid counterfeit application. To enforce this policy, APP_ID are given only to accounts that can be traced to a person offline. This verification is made by either giving a cellphone number or a credit card number.

However, if the developer need a more powerful solution he can opt to use a more robust approach such as the Facebook PHP-SDK

/*On the top of file*/
<?php define('YOUR_APP_ID', 'YOUR APP ID');

require 'facebook.php';

$facebook = new Facebook(array(
  'appId'  => YOUR_APP_ID,
  'secret' => 'YOUR APP SECRET',
));

$userId = $facebook->getUser();

?>

<!-- In the Body -->

    <?php if ($userId) {
      $userInfo = $facebook->api('/' + $userId); ?>
      Welcome <?= $userInfo['name'] ?>
    <?php } else { ?>
    <div id="fb-root"></div>
    <fb:login-button></fb:login-button>
    <?php } ?>
    <script>
      window.fbAsyncInit = function() {
        FB.init({
          appId      : '<?= YOUR_APP_ID ?>',
          status     : true,
          cookie     : true,
          xfbml      : true,
          oauth      : true,
        });

        FB.Event.subscribe('auth.login', function(response) {
          window.location.reload();
        });
      };

      (function(d){
         var js, id = 'facebook-jssdk'; if (d.getElementById(id)) {return;}
         js = d.createElement('script'); js.id = id; js.async = true;
         js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js";
         d.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(js);
       }(document));
    </script>

This approach allows the manipulation of the content in realtime, changing the elements to be displayed when the page is loading, providing a better way to customize the content of the site for each user.

After successfully creating an event management app for managing picnic, many will be curious

to know the causal analysis of this idea. To open up, we would like to throw the light upon

how this idea is going to work.

Feasibility of the Idea –

The areas of event management that has to be troubleshot are:

- Delay and late attendees

- Check on their well being

- Have plan B for emergency

- Gate crashers

- And above all, people want to move with whom they want.

Our app addresses all these issues as it mainly aims in providing a live interaction among the

attendees throughout the event. We provide the features that takes our app directly to the hands of

the people (visible from our user survey) like,

- location monitoring and updates.

- user friendliness – tested via our usability tests.

- security and privacy

Feasibility of Implementation -

Our app resembles that of Apple’s iGroups which tracks users based on their GPS coordinates. We

have gathered some idea on the implementation strategies of location sites like Gowalla based on

which we concrete our implementation.

Testing on the Technical part -

Functional Testing: Our team has excellent testers and developers who specify test requirements

on each functionality and fixing bugs. We also have a blog roll for the user queries.

We are also planning to provide static and dynamic security testing, so that we can eliminate the

security risks to the maximum possible.

Apart from these, we are also working on test suites for load performance testing and compatibility testing

for providing user friendliness.

Introduction

We have conducted a survey for concept of our proposed application, i.e., ZenEvents. First and for most reason to conduct the survey was to check the interests that the users will have in our idea/application. Moreover, from the social networking aspect it would suggest us whether our application will be beneficial in long run or not.

It provided us with an initial idea about the expected outcomes the work we plan to do. Hence we designed the questionnaire in a sequential manner and tried to find out the how frequently does the users organize or help organize events. It was also equally necessary for us to know user’s preferred way to get information related to current/upcoming events. Another question worth asking from users was about facility to chat/interact with other attendees of an event prior to the event. The results from the opinion poll were very promising and encouraged us to go ahead with further developments.

In a day filled with day-to-day chaotic activities, the key to success is through careful and meticulous organization. A lot of event management applications
are prevalent, just to solve the aforementioned issue. Applications like Evite and Eventful are among the Top 25 event management applications that have a lot of user base. The advent of smartphones and especially their ever trending innovative applications, has revolutionized the way of managing our routine. According to SmartMeetings, there are some widely used event management applications for iOS, and the same is with android. Noshlist has become a smash-hit app in iOS market, which is targeted at restaurants for managing parties.

According to Techcrunch, there are some smart moves from the top social networks like Facebook to implement event management and has gained even more users owing to that feature. The existing event management apps like Eventbrite made moves to integrate with Facebook, to attract a larger audience.

The recent trending aspect of web, which is location sharing/tracking aspect, has become closely integrated with social networks forming the Geo-social networks, which is on high usage as per theurbn statistics. Google maps provides 50 billion kms of route and expanded its feature base to showcase indoor locations, analogous to Nokia, which has tested the same.

With the way the smartphones are being adopted, both event management and LBS have a long way to go and especially both combined would altogether form a new dimension to manage the events. We plan to explore this new dimension through our app, Zen Event.
