ELESIG South event: Students as Producers

On Wednesday 29th June, Adam Warren and Tamsyn Smith attended the second symposium organised by the Southern branch of ELESIG (Evaluation of Learners' experiences of E-learning Special Interest Group). The event was considering the role of Students as Producers. It included presentations from practitioners across a range of disciplines, looking at different ways that students can be actively involved in developing and evaluating their own learning. Why Flipped Classrooms Fail

“I tried Peer Instruction and it didn’t work.”   As a champion of the popular flipped learning method developed by Eric Mazur , this phrase always hits me hard when I hear it from fellow educators. And I do hear it. Are we innovation ready?

Fiona Harvey's insight:An interesting position paper from San Jose State, not sure of the date but I'm guessing 2013/14 because of the Mooc references. This does have relevancy in UK, not the Moocs but the concepts behind readying universities in changing to meet the needs of society. In particular the references to styles of learning and delivery.
