Introduction to Teaching Skills for Postgraduates – feedback

At the request of academic units and faculties, over 380 new doctoral researchers will be involved in teaching activities this year as demonstrators or seminar leaders. To ensure doctoral researchers are supported and prepared for this activity, Introduction to Teaching Skills workshops (ITSPG) have been taking place each week since the start of term supported by local courses within academic units or faculties. ILIaD Special Interest Groups (SIGs) bring together staff to share good practice, learn from one another and collaborate, or to look in more depth at a specific area of Education excellence or innovation. Supervising Research Students workshop 23 September One of the most rewarding and, in some cases, demanding academic roles is that of research supervisor. The changing nature of the PhD and the increasing focus on training for students and supervisors makes this a timely workshop. The Harris report and the issued guidelines from several of the Research Councils as well as the University’s own Regulations and Code of Practice, talk about the roles and responsibilities of supervisors.
