Dr. Daniel Ashton

Lecturer and MA Pathway Leader in Global Media Management, Winchester School of Art

Dan joined the University of Southampton in April 2015 and has been teaching in higher education in the UK since 2006. He has undergraduate, taught postgraduate and doctoral research supervision experience. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds a MA in Professional Practice in Higher Education. Since 2010 he has been an associate tutor on the Distance Learning MA in Media Communication at the University of Leicester. Through this role and his teaching in the Winchester School of Art, he has been able to build relationships in different learning environments with students from across the globe. He is interested in massive open online courses and digital technologies, and issues of employability and industry engagement within a global context. Dan’s research focuses on creative, cultural and media industries and policy, and he is keen to explore ways to connect research with learning and teaching.
